"We didn't know you can learn English in the trenches!"

Our Courses

At Hi-London, we build our English language courses so that children and teens learn the English language in a fun, natural way. Workshops and other interactive sessions at landmark London venues like the Globe Theatre and Tower of London are integral to our English language courses, and our native English-speaking teachers and workshop leaders are chosen for their ability to inspire learning among children and teens. The English language lessons are woven into what the children and teens do each day; so, they learn English without realising that they are in fact learning!

In our English language courses, the teachers focus primarily on skills that are difficult for the students to acquire in their home countries, namely listening comprehension and speaking skills. For those who want to go that extra mile and work on their reading and writing skills, we can also offer private English language lessons before or after the core English language class time.

We try and treat each child or teen as an individual. Maintaining a teacher to student ratio of 1 to 8 for all our classes enables the teachers and teaching assistants to spend focused time with each of the students. We collect information on each student before he or she starts a course and use this information to fine-tune the course delivery. For those children and teens who register for 2 or more weeks in our English language courses, we provide an assessment with suggestions for further English language study at home.

Our English courses and programmes for children, teens, and adult family members run from morning into the evening, and they are offered in flexible, modular formats.  Therefore, hours and lessons can be added as desired.

Outlined below are the English language courses that we offer throughout the year:

  • Children 5-11: The children make puppets, float hot-air balloons and put on performances during themed weeks like "The London Jungle", "Scientific London" and "Peter Pan's London". Excursions to venues relevant to the theme for the week is integral to these English courses. All teachers and workshop leaders are native English speakers who have worked extensively with children of this age group and have cleared all the necessary regulatory checks.
  • Younger Teens 12-15: The younger teens explore a different part of London each week, learning English in a cultural or historical context. Through these excursion-based English language courses, they get to see and understand London through the eyes of the Londoners who are their English language teachers. The teens also have the opportunity to practice their English with teens from all over the world as they ride the Tube, have lunch and discuss what they see and do at each venue.
  • Older Teens 16-18: For older teens, we can offer classroom-based English language lessons at our partner English language school for adults in the mornings and/or excursion-based English language courses in the afternoons. Our partner English language school for adults is accredited by the British Council.
  • Accompanying Adults/Families: Adult family members can accompany their children on their excursions, take private or semi-private lessons at our school or register for one of the courses at our partner English language school for adults. This English language school, which is British Council accredited, provides group and private tuition in general and business English, as well as TESOL and IELTS classes. In addition, at certain times during the year, we offer programmes specifically designed to engage the interests of the whole family.
