Learning English outside the school classroom
Learning English sitting in a school classroom wrestling with grammar or vocabulary is usually not enough. You need to use the English language within a realistic context, seeking to understand and make yourself be understood.
Hi-London is not a typical English language school. We focus on providing children, teens and accompanying adults for whom English is not their native language the opportunity to learn English through interactions with native speakers and each other.
- With children 5-11, we draw, act, make hot air balloons and play football, allowing them to learn English in a fun, natural way. Excursions to various venues across London are built into the courses to give the children additional opportunities to expand their English knowledge base.
- For teens 12-16 and accompanying adults, there are workshops and private tours at landmark venues which bring to life the historical and cultural richness of London. In this non-threatening environment, the teens and adults from around the world learn English without embarrassment and make life-long friends.
Our unique approach to teaching English has a significant impact on the confidence and motivation of the students, helping to ensure that learning English remains an important part of their lives.
English courses built on personal experiences
We, the founders of Hi-London, are parents who speak several languages and are committed to raising our own children in multilingual, multicultural environments. We have experienced complete language immersion as children and teens ourselves and understand the value of operating outside a typical English school setting.
Learning English with native English speakers who understand children, teens and their parents
All of the workshop leaders, teachers and assistants are native English speakers, and many have worked with children and/or teens for years. Our classes are kept small to ensure that the children and teens have enough opportunities to interact with the course leaders and each other. |
